Utah Jazz Star Keyonte George Secures Massive $157.5 Million Extension
Utah Jazz rising star Keyonte George has finalized a five-year contract extension worth $157.5 million. The deal was concluded on Friday after months of negotiations between George's agent, Jason Raine, and Jazz President Austin Ainge.
George's new contract will represent approximately 16% of the Jazz's salary cap and includes no team or player options. The Jazz organization views George and Derik Peterson, the second overall pick in this year's draft, as a future dynamic backcourt pairing.
Following a rebuilding phase, the Jazz are aiming for increased competitiveness this season. This ambition is further bolstered by the recent acquisition of two-time All-Star power forward Jaren Jackson Jr. at the trade deadline.
Keyonte George is the son of Jason Siggers, a former Israeli Basketball Premier League player who played in Israel between 2015 and 2021 for teams including Hapoel Galil Elyon, Maccabi Rishon LeZion, Hapoel Haifa, and Maccabi Ironi Ra'anana.
