Israeli Teen Amichai Attia, 17, Mourned After Fatal Car Incident

Amichai Attia, a 17-year-old resident of the Israeli settlement of Itamar, was laid to rest after being fatally struck by a vehicle at the "Village" shopping complex. His rabbi and friends eulogized him as pure, optimistic, and always smiling.

Rabbi Matania Ben Shitrit of the "Hitzim" Yeshiva described Attia as someone who illuminated the faces of others with a shy smile and possessed a special optimism and love for the Land of Israel. He noted Attia's steadfastness and calm demeanor in all situations.

Friend Yitzhak Silver described Attia's quick integration into the community and his strong character, recalling how Attia helped him adjust when he arrived at the yeshiva. Silver highlighted Attia's willingness to listen and his ability to remain composed and smiling even during disagreements, often saying, "You are right."

Another friend, Ilai Cohen, spoke of Attia's purity, honesty, and strength, finding it difficult to believe he was gone. He mentioned Attia's death occurring just before Yom Kippur, suggesting he ascended "clean to heaven."

Attia's aunt, Libona Esther, stated the family had not yet received full details of the incident, only knowing that a vehicle had hit him and they were awaiting the police investigation results. She described him as a "sweet as honey" child with a captivating smile, excellent sense of humor, and a positive outlook, adding that he was very sociable and surrounded by friends. She also expressed gratitude for the community's support.
