Mother of Nova Victim Confronts Former IDF Intelligence Chief Haliva

Shali, the mother of the late Libi Cohen Maguri, who was murdered at the Nova music festival, encountered former head of Military Intelligence, Aharon Haliva, and confronted him directly. She expressed her pain and anger, stating, "You live a kilometer from us. Three years since she was murdered, you haven't bothered to come." The encounter occurred recently, with the mother highlighting Haliva's proximity and perceived lack of support during the three years since her daughter's death.

Libi Cohen Maguri was among the approximately 360 people killed during the Hamas-led attack on the Supernova music festival near Kibbutz Re'im on October 7, 2023. The festival, held in the Negev desert, was a target of the unprecedented assault that initiated the ongoing conflict.

Haliva, who resigned from his position as head of Military Intelligence following the October 7th attacks, has faced public scrutiny regarding the intelligence failures that preceded the massacre. His resignation was accepted by IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi in April 2024. The mother's confrontation underscores the deep sense of loss and frustration felt by families of victims, particularly in relation to perceived failures and lack of accountability from senior officials.
