Bereaved Mother Confronts Former Military Intelligence Chief Over Daughter's Death

Shuli Meshel Yogev, the mother of Libi Cohen Guri, who was murdered on October 7th, encountered former head of Military Intelligence, Aharon Haliva, in Tel Aviv's Yarkon Park on Friday morning. Meshel Yogev confronted Haliva, who lives nearby, accusing him of failing to contact her family since her daughter's death. "You know who I am, and you heard about Libi. You live a kilometer from our house, and for three years since she was murdered, you haven't bothered to speak with us once," Meshel Yogev told Haliva. She contrasted his actions with those of former IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, stating, "Unlike Herzi Halevi, who called and said 'I want to come.' Where are you? Where were you? My daughter is buried because of you!"

Meshel Yogev urged Haliva to take responsibility for his actions and the events of October 7th. "You need to feel ashamed and take responsibility, not just breathe and say 'I want to come to you, I want to cry with you, I want to cry with you because I suffer too.' You need to say that you suffer like me! You don't understand that?" she demanded. Haliva, who resigned from his position following the failures leading up to the Hamas attacks, has not publicly commented on the encounter.
