Ofer Fabian Appointed Sports Director for Eilat FC
Ofer Fabian has been appointed as the new professional director for the Israeli football club Eilat FC, which competes in Liga Bet (the third tier of Israeli football). This appointment comes about a week and a half after Kobi Refua departed the club. Fabian, a former Maccabi Haifa player, was the leading candidate to succeed Refua.
Fabian most recently served as the professional director for the youth departments at Maccabi Haifa. Eilat FC is undertaking a significant investment project, described as a "million-shekel project," with the clear objective of promoting the team to the higher leagues in Israel.
Refua's departure was earlier than anticipated, despite having signed a three-year contract worth NIS 400,000 per season, which also included benefits such as a car, fuel card, and hotel accommodation. The club had previously recruited notable players for Liga Bet standards, including Gidi Kanyuk, Gil Yitzhak, and Ofek Fishler, as part of their ambitious promotion goals.
