Liberman Denounces Racism Against Russian Speakers After Incident

Avigdor Liberman, leader of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, has strongly condemned what he termed a "racist incident" in Ma'ale HaChamisha. Liberman reacted to a video showing a young woman verbally abusing a truck driver, whom she apparently identified as "Russian." He described the incident as "shameful, disgusting blind hatred."

Liberman stated that racism against Russian-speaking Israelis is becoming normalized and is unacceptable. He criticized the perception that immigrants are easy targets for attacks based on their origin, language, or accent without consequence. "This illusion of impunity is born where attacks are ignored," he wrote.

The Yisrael Beiteinu leader asserted that Russian-speaking Israelis do not need to prove themselves, emphasizing their equal rights in Israel and their right to not endure humiliation or harassment.

Liberman also called on the police to thoroughly investigate the incident. He demanded that the assailant be identified and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for property damage and racist insults.
