Liberman Denounces Racism Against Russian-Speaking Israelis After Attack
Avigdor Liberman, leader of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, has strongly condemned a racist incident that occurred in Ma'ale HaHamisha, calling it "shameful and disgusting blind hatred" that must not go unpunished. Liberman stated on his official X (formerly Twitter) account that racism against Russian-speaking residents in Israel is increasingly being normalized.
He observed that aggressors mistakenly target immigrants based on their origin, language, or accent, believing they are easy targets. This perceived impunity, Liberman argued, arises when such incidents are ignored. He emphasized that Russian-speaking citizens are full members of Israeli society and have nothing to prove, nor should they endure humiliation or harassment in their homeland.
Following the incident, Liberman formally requested law enforcement to conduct a thorough investigation. He urged the police to identify the perpetrator and hold them fully accountable under the law for both property damage and racist insults.
