Tens of Thousands Gather for Penitential Prayers at Western Wall
Approximately 100,000 people participated in central penitential prayers held Thursday night in the Western Wall Plaza in Jerusalem. Prayers were offered for the recovery of the wounded, as well as for peace, security, and unity for the people of Israel.
Due to the large crowd and the inability to admit more worshippers to the plaza, the event was broadcast live on giant screens placed at Jaffa Gate and on the walls of the Old City.
The Western Wall Heritage Foundation announced that preparations are complete for the final central penitential prayer service of the year, scheduled for Saturday night. The service will commence at midnight with the recitation of the annulment of vows and curses.
With hundreds of thousands expected, the Foundation urged the public to arrive early, obey police instructions, and follow the directions of stewards.
