Remembrance and Penitential Prayers Held at Mount Herzl Cemetery
Dozens of people gathered at the Mount Herzl military cemetery in Jerusalem on Thursday evening for a service of remembrance and penitential prayers ahead of Yom Kippur. The event, held near the graves of fallen soldiers Dov Moshe Cogan and Yair Yaakov Shoshan, featured soul music and prayers. Cogan, a reservist sergeant major in the elite Sayeret Matkal unit, and Shoshan, a captain and team commander in the Nachal Brigade's reconnaissance unit, were residents of Ma'alot and fell in battle in the Gaza Strip. Attendees sang spiritual songs beside the soldiers' graves before moving to section 18A of the cemetery for the Selichot prayers. The service was attended by bereaved families, friends, and youth from Ma'alot.
