Maccabi Tel Aviv Dominates Rival, Wins Super Cup in Convincing Fashion

Maccabi Tel Aviv secured their first-ever Super Cup title by defeating Hapoel Tel Aviv 101-83 in a decisive derby match on Thursday. The victory, achieved in their first official game of the season, showcased a strong performance ahead of their EuroLeague campaign.

Coach Oded Katash expressed satisfaction with the team's early progress, highlighting their character, responsibility, and quick learning. He noted that the team is performing well relative to previous years, attributing some of this success to the returning players who help integrate the new additions more smoothly. "We have more tools in this team to fix what needs fixing," Katash stated, emphasizing the team's ability to respond positively during timeouts and halftime.

Despite the team being in its early stages of preparation and having trained with a full roster for only two weeks, Maccabi displayed impressive cohesion and a clear playing style. Newcomers like Yam Madar, Bonzie Colson, Armando Bacot, and Keeton Wallace made significant contributions. Madar, the game's MVP with 13 points and 7 assists, received widespread praise for his performance after his summer move from Hapoel Tel Aviv. "He showed everyone what he's worth," remarked club personnel about Madar.

Katash also lauded Colson, who contributed 13 points and seemed to seamlessly rejoin the team. "Bonzie is Bonzie, he's a great player and has already given us a lot on both ends of the court," the coach said. He added that new additions like Bacot and Wallace are expected to make significant progress in their roles this season.
