Maccabi Tel Aviv Dominates Rival, Wins Super Cup in Convincing Fashion

Maccabi Tel Aviv secured their first-ever Super Cup title by decisively defeating Hapoel Tel Aviv 101-83 in a highly anticipated derby. The victory, achieved in their first official game of the season, showcased a strong performance from coach Oded Katash's squad just a week before the EuroLeague season commences.

The team expressed satisfaction with the win, highlighting the character, responsibility, and quick learning demonstrated by the players. "Opening the season with a title in a derby is very significant," stated club officials. "It was a good game for us at such an early stage, and it's completely encouraging and points to a good and positive direction."

Despite building a new team and still being in the preparation phase, Maccabi displayed impressive cohesion and a solid game plan. Coach Katash noted that the integration of new players has been smoother this year due to the presence of returning veterans like Bonzie Colson, Iftah Liorberg, and Jalen Hurd, who provide stability and experience.

"At this stage of the season, we are doing things well compared to previous years," Katash commented. "It's much easier for the new additions because the other players already know everything." He also praised the team's defensive focus, which became evident in the second quarter and continued throughout the game, allowing them to establish control.

Former Hapoel player Yam Madar was the standout performer, earning MVP honors with 13 points and 7 assists, including a remarkable long-range shot. "Yam is a great player, very talented," said club personnel. "He showed everyone what he's worth." Katash added that Madar's contribution was immediate and significant, with more to come as he further integrates into the team's system.

Newcomers like Armando Bacot and Keeton Wallace also had solid debuts, contributing 9 and 10 points respectively, while Bonzie Colson, who returned to the team, added 13 points and received a warm reception from the fans. Katash emphasized that while the Super Cup win is a positive start, there is still much work to be done as the team continues its development.
