Children's Star Demands $80,000 From Likud Over Unauthorized Song Use
Children's entertainer Maayki Tzion Barashashet, known online as 'Maayki the Spectacled One,' has sent a legal warning to the Likud party demanding 300,000 shekels (approximately $80,000 USD) and an apology for the unauthorized use of her viral song, 'Squishies Party.' The party used the song in an AI-generated video for the recent elections, which depicted political figures Avigdor Lieberman and Gabi Ashkenazi as 'stressed' while Benjamin Netanyahu was portrayed as 'unstressed,' all set to Barashashet's music.
Barashashet, through her lawyers, stated that she does not wish to be politically identified against her will and has requested the immediate cessation of her song's use. The legal notice also demands payment for legal expenses incurred.
Despite Barashashet's explicit request to avoid political association, other parties have reportedly also used her song in their campaign materials. One such video allegedly shows Netanyahu as highly stressed by ultra-Orthodox parties, with everyone dancing to her tune. Barashashet has not yet commented publicly on these further instances of alleged infringement.
