Children's Song Goes Viral, Becomes Political Tool; Star Threatens Lawsuit

Children's entertainer MaiKey has sent a pre-litigation warning to the Likud party for unauthorized use of her viral hit song, "Squishies Party." She is demanding approximately 300,000 shekels in compensation and a public apology.

The Likud party is not the only political entity to have used the song. A source close to MaiKey stated that warning letters are sent only when usage is not removed after a request. "Several parties used the song, and when we approached them, they removed it immediately," the source said, adding that pre-litigation letters will be sent to parties that continue to use the song after being asked to stop.

The source emphasized that MaiKey is not political and wishes to remain so, focusing solely on her work as a children's entertainer. The legal letter argues that the song's use could lead to her being identified with political agendas and messages against her will.

In addition to compensation and an apology, the letter demands an immediate cessation of the song's use and payment of legal expenses. The legal team also stated that using a singer's voice without permission is prohibited, just as using songs in campaigns without creator approval is forbidden. Mako reported on the matter.
