Children's Star Demands $82,000 from Likud for Unauthorized Song Use

Children's entertainer Maykey has sent a pre-lawsuit letter to the Likud party, demanding approximately 300,000 shekels (about $82,000 USD) in compensation, legal fees, and an apology. The demand stems from the party's alleged unauthorized use of her hit song "Squishies Party" in a campaign video.

Maykey's legal team claims the song was incorporated into the video without her permission. They argue that using the song in a political context could wrongly associate her, as a children's entertainer, with a political agenda and messages against her will. The lawyers have also demanded that Likud cease all use of the song.

In an interview, Maykey stated that she was initially amused to see her song used and even laughed at the video. However, her feelings changed when she realized the song was part of what appeared to be an election campaign. "Wow, what did they do here? Did they categorize me with a certain party? Did they put me in a political role?" she recounted.

Maykey emphasized that her position as a children's entertainer prevents her from taking political stances. "I can't be political because I'm a children's star. I can't take a stand, and here I didn't know how to approach it," she explained. She asserted her desire to remain neutral, stating, "I am here to make children and people happy, that is my party, that is what I choose."
