Five Arrested in Gangland Shootings Over Ono Valley Dispute

Police have filed charges against five suspects, including two minors, in connection with two shooting incidents that occurred within hours of each other in Kiryat Ono and Ganei Tikva. The incidents, which took place on July 18, are believed to stem from a dispute between two criminal gangs, with the second shooting reportedly a reprisal for the first. The suspects' detention has been extended until September 20, with prosecutors intending to file indictments.

The first shooting occurred late on July 18 on Shai Agnon Street in Kiryat Ono. Investigators suspect that an 18-year-old from Ganei Tikva, armed with a pistol, fired at two motorcyclists following a meeting related to the gang dispute. The motorcyclists were unharmed, but the gunfire damaged a nearby fence. The involved parties then fled the scene.

Several hours later, two individuals from the rival group allegedly arrived on a motorcycle at a residential building in Ganei Tikva, intending to target the 18-year-old suspected of the earlier shooting. They opened fire on the building, hitting the glass of the entrance lobby before escaping. No injuries were reported in this second incident either.

A covert investigation by the Dan District's Crime Fighting Unit, lasting approximately two months, led to the arrests in September. The 18-year-old and two 17-year-old minors from Kiryat Ono were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the Kiryat Ono shooting. The minors are also suspected of using an unlicensed motorcycle and assisting in disposing of the weapon. Concurrently, two residents of Bnei Brak, aged 27 and 19, were arrested on suspicion of carrying out the retaliatory shooting in Ganei Tikva. The motorcycle believed to have been used in the second incident was also seized.
