Eisenkot Threatens Legal Action Against Smotrich Over AI-Generated Campaign Video

Gadi Eisenkot's "Yachad" party has threatened legal action against Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and his "Religious Zionism" party over an AI-generated campaign video posted on Smotrich's X account. The video depicts the President of the Supreme Court, Yitzhak Amit, Justice Dafna Barak-Erez, and Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara seemingly participating in a political demonstration against Smotrich, engaging in riots before being forcibly removed by police. The "Yachad" party, represented by attorney Uri Haberman, sent an urgent warning letter to Smotrich, stating that the video constitutes a serious criminal offense of contempt of court, punishable by up to three years in prison. The party also condemned the "dangerous incitement, symbolic bloodletting, and creation of a false reality" by falsely attributing criminal behavior to senior judicial officials for electoral purposes. The AI-generated video was released as part of a satirical segment coinciding with the launch of a joint initiative by Smotrich and MK Simcha Rotman to advance a new judicial reform in Israel. The "Yachad" party emphasized that this goes beyond mere criticism of a project and constitutes dangerous incitement.
