Gadi Eisenkot Demands Smotrich Remove Judicial System AI Video

Gadi Eisenkot's party, Yisrael!, has formally demanded that Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and the Religious Zionism party remove an AI-generated video released as part of their campaign to promote judicial system reforms. The demand, submitted by attorney Uri Heberman, stated the video must be taken down by 3:00 PM, characterizing it not as legitimate criticism or election campaigning, but as "dangerous incitement."

The controversial video, created using artificial intelligence for the "Freeing the Blockage" campaign, depicts Supreme Court President Yitzhak Amit, Justice Daphne Barak-Erez, and Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara being escorted away by security personnel. They are shown as if they were blocking a road during a protest.

This campaign was launched alongside the Religious Zionism party's plan for significant changes to the judicial system, which includes proposals such as splitting the Attorney General's role and enacting a "override clause" allowing the Knesset to re-legislate laws struck down by the Supreme Court.

Sources associated with the Religious Zionism campaign have countered the demand, labeling it an attempt to silence political criticism and public discourse surrounding their proposed judicial reforms. They argue that classifying a campaign video and political critique as incitement or illegal use of public assets infringes upon freedom of political expression and the ability to debate the proposed changes to the justice system.
