Woman Reunites With Midwife Who Delivered Her Baby in Ambulance

Kim Meshulam, who gave birth to her daughter in an ambulance outside Rabin Medical Center-Beilinson Campus two days prior, met with Maya Saglovich, the head of the delivery room who assisted in the unusual birth. Saglovich visited Meshulam and her newborn daughter on Thursday morning. The two embraced, recalling the moments they realized the birth was progressing rapidly and there was no time to reach the delivery room.

Meshulam told Saglovich, "You are simply an angel," adding, "You gave me a wonderful experience, I came and saw a lot of light. I called my husband and told him I was okay, you don't have to come."

The birth occurred after Meshulam and her husband realized during a car ride that she was in active labor and needed to reach the hospital urgently. She was transported by ambulance to Beilinson, but upon arrival, it became clear the birth was already in an advanced stage. Saglovich understood there was insufficient time to move Meshulam to the delivery room. Three midwives entered the ambulance and assisted her in delivering the baby on the spot. Shortly after, a healthy baby girl weighing 3.56 kilograms was born. The mother and midwife met again this morning under calmer circumstances.
