Former Wolfson Hospital Professor Sentenced to Six Years for Sexual Offenses

The Tel Aviv District Court has sentenced Professor Aryeh Levin, a former head of pediatric gastroenterology at Wolfson Hospital, to six years in prison for sexual offenses. Levin had previously pleaded guilty to raping the mother of a patient, indecent acts against two female patients, and abusing his official position, as part of a plea deal with the prosecution. The prosecution had sought a 13-year sentence.

Levin admitted to the facts presented in the amended indictment, which detailed crimes committed between 2013 and 2021. The plea agreement was reached after evidence presentation and mediation, but did not include a sentencing recommendation, leaving the duration to the court's discretion. The indictment specified that Levin raped the mother of a minor patient who visited his office for her son's documents. He was also found guilty of indecent acts against two patients and performing medical procedures without consent while misusing his authority.

Prior to the sentencing hearing, Levin paid 750,000 shekels in compensation to the victims. He also committed to permanently ceasing his medical practice and requested the Ministry of Health revoke his medical license. Some of the original charges against Levin were dropped as part of the plea deal, including an accusation of raping a minor.
