Quick Tahini and Date Syrup Cookies: A Simple 3-Ingredient Recipe
A new recipe for three-ingredient tahini and date syrup cookies has been released, designed to be a quick and easy treat for breaking fasts. These cookies require no mixer, no rising time, and can be prepared in just 12 minutes. They are described as melt-in-your-mouth and ideal with a hot beverage after a period of fasting.
The recipe emphasizes simplicity, using only raw tahini for a rich texture, date syrup for natural sweetness, and flour to bind the ingredients. The resulting cookies are said to resemble classic date cookies but with a lighter, modern twist. Optional additions include sesame seeds, sliced almonds, or chopped nuts for decoration.
Preparation involves preheating the oven to 170 degrees Celsius (340 Fahrenheit). First, tahini and date syrup are mixed in a bowl until smooth. Flour is then gradually added, either by spoon or by hand, until a soft, non-sticky dough forms. The dough should not be overmixed.
Small, walnut-sized balls are shaped and placed on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, with about 2 cm (0.8 inches) spacing. Each ball is gently flattened with a fork to create a crisscross pattern. Optional toppings can be added at this stage.
The cookies are baked for only 10 to 12 minutes, until the bottoms are lightly golden and the edges appear firm. They are intended to remain slightly soft in the center for a tender texture and should not be overbaked, as they continue to firm up while cooling.
After baking, the cookies must cool completely on the baking sheet before handling, as they are very soft when hot. The recipe notes that the combination of tahini and date syrup provides a quick energy source, with tahini offering healthy fats and plant-based protein, and date syrup providing fast-absorbing natural sugars. These cookies are presented as a simpler, more natural alternative to recipes requiring eggs and white sugar, offering a balanced mix of carbohydrates, fats, and protein suitable for post-fasting recovery. They can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days and remain soft.
