Kinneret Beaches to Operate Without Lifeguards During Yom Kippur

The Kinneret Regional Council has issued a warning to the public regarding beach operations during the upcoming Yom Kippur holiday. Lifeguard, security, and cleaning services will be suspended for the duration of the fast.

On September 20, the eve of the holiday, lifeguard stations will operate only until 2:00 PM. From that time until Yom Kippur concludes at 8:00 PM the following day, all safety infrastructure along the lake's shores will be shut down.

While the beaches will remain open as public spaces, the council emphasized that swimming without professional lifeguards is strictly prohibited and poses a significant danger to life. Authorities urged visitors to exercise caution and refrain from entering the water during this period.

The absence of lifeguards "multiple times increases the risks of accidents on the water," the council stated, adding that adherence to safety rules becomes the personal responsibility of each individual.

Normal beach operations, including the return of lifeguards, security, and cleaning services, will resume immediately after the holiday ends. Visitors are advised to plan their trips accordingly and consider these restrictions when visiting the lake during the holiday period.
