Kinneret Beaches Open for Yom Kippur, But Swimming is Prohibited
Ahead of Yom Kippur, the Kinneret Cities Association has announced regulations for beach access around the Sea of Galilee. On Monday, September 21, the eve of Yom Kippur, lifeguard services at the association's beaches will cease operations, making swimming forbidden. Lifeguard services will operate until 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 20. From that time until after Yom Kippur concludes at 8:00 PM on Sunday evening, both lifeguard and security and cleaning services will be suspended.
The association emphasized that while the beaches will remain open as public spaces, entering the water is strictly prohibited. They reminded the public that swimming at Kinneret beaches without lifeguard services is illegal and dangerous, urging visitors to adhere to the guidelines. The affected beaches include Hukok North, Amon Bay, Kiner, Douga, Dougit, Golan, Kursi, Lebanon, Chalukim, Gofra, Susita, Tzemah, Zinbari, Berniki, and Sakam.
Lifeguard services are scheduled to resume after Yom Kippur.
