Temporary Separate Beach Opens at Sea of Galilee for Religious Visitors This Summer

The Ministry of Interior and the Sea of Galilee Municipal Association are finalizing preparations to open a temporary segregated swimming beach at Golan Beach (section 13) during the upcoming "Between the Times" summer holiday period. This initiative, funded by the Ministry of Interior for the seventh consecutive year, aims to provide accessible and appropriate bathing facilities for the religious and ultra-Orthodox public, as well as all citizens seeking separate swimming options during the busy vacation time when many visitors come to the Sea of Galilee shores.

This temporary segregated beach will complement the year-round segregated beaches operated by the Municipal Association at Kinneret and Tiberias. Israel Ozen, Director General of the Ministry of Interior, emphasized the ministry's commitment to upgrading and adapting swimming beaches across Israel to meet the needs of all populations. He urged bathers to act responsibly, follow lifeguard instructions, and swim only at designated beaches during rescue service hours.

The segregated beach will officially open on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 9:00 AM and remain open until Sunday, August 14, 2026. Afterward, from August 16 to 20, the area will be closed for dismantling the temporary infrastructure. Access to the beach will be via the Dogit Beach parking lot, which shares a lot with Golan Beach.

Yosef Ben Yosef, CEO of the Sea of Galilee Municipal Association, noted that the beaches expect large visitor numbers during this summer period. Rescue services and security patrols will be reinforced in cooperation with the Israel Police and maritime patrols. The association also reminded the public that all its beaches are designated quiet zones, prohibiting music and loudspeakers to maintain a peaceful environment.
