OpenAI Opens ChatGPT Advertising Market to Israel and Middle East
OpenAI has expanded its advertising platform, Ads Manager, to include Israel and other Middle Eastern countries. The company has begun contacting advertisers in the region to encourage the use of its system. This move follows an earlier expansion in September 2026, which initially excluded Israel. Now, Israel is officially listed alongside the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait.
A pilot program for displaying ads to adult users on free and Go tier plans was launched in the United States in February 2026. OpenAI stated that advertisements would appear at the bottom of the chatbot's responses, clearly marked, and would not be visible to subscribers of Plus, Pro, and Enterprise plans. The company also committed to ensuring ads would not affect response content and that user data would not be sold to advertisers.
Since the pilot phase, OpenAI's advertising operations have grown to new markets. In late August, the company announced that its advertising business had achieved an annualized revenue run rate of $1 billion within just 200 days of its launch.
