Ex-National Security Advisor Giora Eiland Backs Lieberman, Reveals Knesset Offer
Former National Security Council head, Major General (res.) Giora Eiland, has revealed his continued support for Yisrael Beiteinu chairman Avigdor Lieberman, stating he has voted for him in every election since 2019 and believes Lieberman is the most prepared candidate for prime minister. Eiland disclosed in a podcast interview that he had previously voted for Benjamin Netanyahu but has since solidified his political stance.
Eiland also revealed that he received an offer to join the Yisrael Beiteinu slate for the Knesset, with the potential for a high placement and a ministerial role had he accepted. He expressed high regard for other political figures, including Gadi Eisenkot, whom he has known for decades, describing him as a very worthy leader with impressive capabilities beyond his perceived "bearish" appearance and simple language.
When asked about who is most suited to lead the country among the candidates, Eiland mentioned Eisenkot, Naftali Bennett, and Lieberman as contenders. He also acknowledged and expressed high personal regard for Yair Golan, despite political disagreements.
