Critically Ill Patient Fulfills Dream of Praying with Yeshiva Students

A severely ill patient, connected to life support machines, fulfilled his lifelong dream of praying the Selichot service with students from the Ma'aleh Eliyahu Yeshiva. The patient, who has been receiving weekly visits from the yeshiva students for Kiddush on Shabbat, expressed a strong desire to attend the Selichot prayers at the yeshiva.

In response to the patient's wish, the head of a department at Ichilov Hospital contacted the yeshiva to inquire about the possibility of his attendance, with the doctor personally assuming medical responsibility. The yeshiva immediately agreed to the request.

This morning, the patient arrived at the yeshiva accompanied by an intensive care team. For nearly an hour, he prayed alongside the students and the Rosh Yeshiva (head of the yeshiva), Rabbi Chaim Gantz. Although unable to speak, his lips moved and tears streamed down his face as he participated in the prayers.

At the conclusion of the service, all present joined in singing the verse, "From distress I called to you, Lord; you answered me by setting me free." The event was described as a deeply moving moment for students, doctors, and the patient, symbolizing Jewish spirit and the resilience of the people of Israel.
