Hospitalized Patient Fulfills Wish to Attend Selichot Prayers

A patient, identified only as 'A', who is hospitalized in the respiratory rehabilitation unit at Ichilov Hospital, recently fulfilled his wish to attend Selichot (penitential prayers) at the Ma'ale Eliyahu yeshiva. The hospital staff, along with his mother and medical team, facilitated his journey to the yeshiva.

A has been hospitalized for an extended period, recently moving to the respiratory rehabilitation unit. A special connection formed between him and a student from Ma'ale Eliyahu yeshiva, who visits patients weekly for Kiddush (a Sabbath meal blessing) and had been visiting A regularly. The student recently invited A to join the Selichot prayers at the yeshiva.

Given A's complex medical condition and the need for constant monitoring and extensive medical equipment, the request initially seemed improbable. However, the respiratory rehabilitation unit's staff committed to making it happen. Through collaboration between the hospital and the yeshiva, A was able to attend the prayers and received a warm welcome.

A's mother expressed her gratitude, stating, "I have no words to describe the upliftment and excitement we experienced this morning. What wonderful people. I wish all the people of Israel a good final judgment." Dr. Ronen Mass, director of the respiratory rehabilitation unit, and Dr. Assaf Nini, a senior physician in the unit, commented, "The moment A asked to come to Ma'ale Eliyahu yeshiva, we worked together with them to fulfill the request. It was very joyful and moving."

The student who accompanied A shared his excitement, saying, "I was very moved when he asked to come to Selichot, and it was amazing to see the joint effort of the hospital and the yeshiva to fulfill his dream. We will continue to pray for his recovery." Rabbi Chaim Gantz, head of the Ma'ale Eliyahu yeshiva, added, "This morning we were privileged to pray together with A and to tear open the gates of heaven for him and for all the sick of Israel."
