Macklemore Pledges $1 Million to Palestinian Aid Groups After Tour Removal
American rapper Macklemore announced he will donate $1 million to aid organizations operating in Gaza and the Palestinian territories. This sum represents his entire expected earnings from Ed Sheeran's "+-" tour, from which Macklemore was removed following a political speech on stage where he called for a "Free Palestine."
The funds will be distributed to six organizations, including the Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF), Heal Palestine, Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), Anera, and UNRWA USA.
Macklemore also urged billionaire Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots, to match his donation. The rapper alleged that Kraft had pressured stadium owners to prevent him from performing. Kraft's representatives stated he would not comment on the request.
Ed Sheeran clarified that he was not involved in the decision to remove Macklemore from the tour, emphasizing his preference for political neutrality.
