Sephardic Chief Rabbi Flies North for Penitential Prayers Event

Sephardic Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef traveled by helicopter to northern Israel on Wednesday evening to attend a major penitential prayers gathering. He was accompanied by Shas party chairman Aryeh Deri.

The event, held at the stadium in Acre, marked the conclusion of a series of repentance ceremonies and events held during the month of Elul, a period of repentance and mercy leading up to the High Holy Days. Thousands of people attended the gathering.

Deri joined Rabbi Yosef for the significant occasion, which aimed to strengthen residents of the north and inspire the thousands of participants who filled the stands with prayers. Images from the helicopter journey evoked memories of Rabbi Yosef's late father, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, who similarly traveled extensively by helicopter to reach remote areas for similar events during Elul and the Ten Days of Repentance.

Despite feeling unwell and suffering from severe hoarseness after a demanding month of delivering hundreds of lectures and strengthening events across the country, Rabbi Yosef insisted on attending the northern gathering. He traveled to Acre to uplift the spirits of the thousands present, demonstrating significant dedication.
