IDF and Home Front Command Conduct Surprise Readiness Drill Nationwide

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Home Front Command commenced a surprise readiness drill across Israel on Thursday morning, which is scheduled to continue until the afternoon. The exercise, involving multiple locations, aims to test the multi-branch technological and logistical preparedness for various unexpected operational scenarios. It will also assess the Home Front Command's readiness, activate reserves, and practice decision-making and operational response processes at all levels, from regional commands to the General Staff.

During the drill, increased movement of security forces, military medical units, and vehicles will be noticeable in various parts of the country. The IDF stressed that there is no concern of a security incident and that the exercise was pre-planned as part of the 2026 training schedule.

This drill follows a similar surprise exercise conducted by the IDF in the Judea and Samaria region last Friday. That exercise involved mobilizing all brigades in the division to enhance operational fitness and practice surprise scenarios, as part of preparations for the upcoming holiday period. The IDF stated that this training is part of a series of exercises conducted in recent weeks, focusing on improving cooperation with other security and rescue forces in the area.
