About 60,000 visitors came to nature reserves and national parks across Israel, the Israel Nature and Parks Authority said. The most popular sites were Gan HaShlosha, also known as the Sachne, the Hof Dor-Habonim Nature Reserve, Yarkon National Park at Tel Afek, Ein Hemed and Tel Ashkelon.
The authority also said that more than 4,000 hikers spent the weekend at its overnight campsites. The busiest of those were Maayan Harod, Tel Ashkelon, Yarkon Springs and Mishmar HaCarmel. The report gives a snapshot of heavy weekend tourism at protected sites and camping facilities around the country.
