National Security Ministry Rejects Police Request to Promote Police Commissioner's Close Associate

The Ministry of National Security has rejected a request from the Israel Police to upgrade the rank of Nir Negar, the project manager for police stations, to Superintendent. Negar has been described by the police as a "long-time friend" of Police Commissioner Danny Levi, and he reportedly assisted Levi with renovations at his private home.

Levi appointed Negar to oversee the project aimed at strengthening police stations, a key initiative championed by the Commissioner. The police subsequently requested to elevate Negar's position to the rank of Superintendent. However, the Deputy Director General for Planning at the Ministry of National Security denied this request, stating that "there is no difficulty in performing the role at the current rank."

The decision highlights a potential friction point between the police leadership and the Ministry of National Security regarding personnel advancements and resource allocation within the police force.
