Police Commissioner Vows to Award Promotions Amid Dispute with National Security Minister
Police Commissioner Danny Levi stated at an awards ceremony that he would ensure officers receive their promotions, addressing a recent dispute with National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. Ben-Gvir had previously frozen the awarding of promotions until after the elections.
Levi emphasized that the promoted individuals are the best available and expressed full confidence in the appointment and assignment process. "Anyone who knows me knows I wouldn't put these ranks on without it," he said, referring to the integrity of the process.
He assured those who were promoted that he, along with other commanders, would personally ensure they receive their new ranks. The commissioner described the prior discussion about the promotions as "real, correct, and necessary."
