Government Panel Proposes Major Fee Cuts for Hiring Foreign Workers
A committee of director-generals has recommended significant reductions in the annual fees businesses pay to hire foreign workers. The proposed cuts could reach up to 83% for small and medium-sized enterprises.
Additionally, the committee suggested standardizing application fees at NIS 370 (approximately $100 USD), a substantial decrease from the current NIS 1,420 for the hotel industry, NIS 1,060 for construction and industry, and NIS 710 for agriculture.
The recommendations also include revising the existing fee mechanism. The new system would tie the charges to the worker's arrival date in Israel and the actual duration of their employment with a specific employer, aiming for a more equitable and efficient process.
