Likud Party Demands Gadi Eisenkot Remove Videos Critical of Netanyahu

The Likud party has issued an ultimatum to Gadi Eisenkot, demanding the removal of three social media videos from his accounts by Thursday at 10:00 AM. Likud alleges the videos violate election law by misrepresenting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and constitute election propaganda aimed at influencing voters and promoting Eisenkot's list.

The party, represented by attorney Ilan Bombach, claims the videos, posted on September 15th across Facebook, Instagram, and X, use digitally altered images of Netanyahu alongside selectively edited quotes and content. Likud argues this presentation unfairly interferes with other parties' campaign efforts and violates Section 13 of the Election Law.

Specific examples cited include a video with the caption "Months before the massacre: the head of the Shin Bet gave Netanyahu a 'warning of war,'" which Likud claims is a fabricated headline not present in the original source material. Another video reportedly features the text "Two weeks before the massacre: the target is a quiet holiday period," which Likud states is not directly attributed to Netanyahu in the source but rather presented as a summary of a cabinet discussion.

Likud also pointed to a clip from an interview on Channel 14's "The Patriots," where Netanyahu appears to say, "I think there is an exaggeration in this." The party contends the video cuts off immediately after this statement, omitting Netanyahu's subsequent remarks about the possibility of war and necessary actions.

If Eisenkot fails to remove the videos by the deadline, Likud has threatened to file an urgent petition with the Chairman of the Central Elections Committee, seeking to compel their removal and impose costs on Eisenkot.
