Police Seize Kalashnikov, Grenade in Northern Israel Arrests

Israeli police reported a wave of weapons seizures and arrests in northern Israel on Tuesday. In the town of Yarka, Border Police officers discovered a bag hidden among bushes containing a Kalashnikov rifle, two loaded magazines with 7.62mm ammunition, and additional weapon parts. The findings were handed over for further investigation.

In Sakhnin, a 23-year-old resident was arrested shortly after allegedly firing at a home and a vehicle. The suspect reportedly fled on an electric scooter, wearing a helmet and gloves. When he spotted a police car, he stopped the scooter, threw a handgun from the vehicle window, and attempted to escape on foot but was apprehended. The handgun was found loaded with a round in the chamber. The Haifa District Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment and requested his detention until the end of proceedings.

In Nazareth, officers identified a suspicious vehicle and signaled the driver to stop. The driver fled, and during the pursuit, allegedly threw a handgun and a fragmentation grenade from the car window. The suspect, a Nazareth resident, was arrested, and his detention was extended until September 23.
