Israelis Ejected From Italian Restaurant After Requesting Wi-Fi Password

A group of Israeli tourists were reportedly expelled from a restaurant in Limone Sul Garda, northern Italy, after asking for the Wi-Fi password. According to the Israelis, a waiter responded with an anti-Israel tirade, shouting, "You are animals, you kill children." The tourists claim the restaurant owners did not intervene and instead called the police on them. The police officers were reportedly apologetic to the Israelis.

One of the tourists, Gali Hazan, shared her experience on a Facebook group for travelers in northern Italy, describing the incident as an "anti-Semitic attack." She posted a picture of the waiter and urged others to avoid the restaurant, named Jacky. Hazan stated she filed complaints and that the police officers apologized on behalf of Italy.

This incident follows a series of reported anti-Semitic and anti-Israel events in Italy. In July, a document circulated in Italy encouraging citizens to report the presence of "Israelis and Zionists," which was condemned by the Union of Jewish Communities in Italy as a "step up in anti-Semitism." The document aimed to track and potentially counter what its authors called "Zionist neo-colonization."

Additionally, the Jewish LGBTQ+ organization "Keshet" was reportedly removed from a Pride parade in Rome for refusing to condemn Israel. Israeli tourists have also reported receiving offensive emails from accommodations demanding they denounce the Israeli government and instances of businesses refusing service based on perceived Israeli identity, such as a restaurant that allegedly turned away a customer upon seeing a Star of David on her Instagram profile.
