Civil Administration Demolishes Dozens of Illegal Structures Near New Settlements

The Civil Administration's supervision unit conducted an operation on Wednesday morning to remove dozens of illegal structures and encroachments near the new settlements of Makkedah and Shira. The operation involved clearing illegal constructions and plantings spanning approximately 20 dunams of state land near Makkedah in the Hebron region.

Simultaneously, illegal structures near the settlement of Shira in Samaria were dismantled. Shira is slated for development into a city following a cabinet decision spearheaded by Minister Smotrich. These actions are part of a broader policy to strengthen settlement, declare new communities, advance legal processes, establish settlement cores, and enforce regulations against illegal construction.

Bezalel Smotrich, Chairman of the Religious Zionism party and Minister of Finance and Minister in the Ministry of Defense, commented on the operation. He stated, "In the past four years, we have led a determined policy of fortifying and strengthening settlement, alongside removing threats to the area and destroying illegal construction on an unprecedented scale. The Eisenkot-Lieberman-Golan government wants to stop this, and we must not let it happen." Smotrich also remarked on the Shira settlement area, noting that the demolition of structures nearby clearly shows the proximity of the homes of the nearby city of Rosh Ha'ayin, illustrating how these settlements serve as Israel's security buffer. He thanked the Civil Administration's supervision unit and the settlement management for their efforts.
