Civil Administration Demolishes Strategic Structures Threatening Key West Bank Road

The Civil Administration's supervision unit, operating under Minister of Finance and Defense Minister Bezalel Smotrich, conducted a demolition operation on Monday in the Benjamin and Samaria regions of the West Bank. The operation targeted illegal Palestinian structures, including significant strategic buildings posing a threat to Highway 465, a major thoroughfare known as the "Cross-Benjamin Road." Four structures totaling approximately 600 square meters were demolished in the Benjamin region specifically because they threatened this vital road, which recently received approval for expansion.

In the Samaria region, two substantial structures, each between 400 and 500 square meters, were demolished near the settlement of Har Bracha. The Civil Administration stated that these enforcement actions are part of a determined and ongoing effort to remove security threats and counter attempts at land appropriation in the area.

This operation is part of a broader trend of increased enforcement and demolition of illegal Palestinian construction in the West Bank. Over the past five years, the number of demolished illegal structures has doubled, reaching a peak of approximately 536 demolitions in the first half of 2026.

Minister Smotrich commented on the operation, stating, "For the past four years, we have led uncompromising enforcement, alongside fortifying and strengthening the settlement enterprise in Judea and Samaria. In contrast to the Eisenkot-Lieberman-Golan government, which would evacuate settlements and advance the establishment of a Palestinian state, we are fighting illegal construction and fortifying and strengthening the settlement enterprise in the land."
