Dutch Court Upholds Ban on Goods From Israeli Settlements

A court in the Netherlands has approved legislation prohibiting the purchase and trade with companies operating beyond the "Green Line," citing violations of international law. The ruling rejected an appeal by the "Israel Products Center" (IPC), a Christian organization based in Nijkerk that supports Israel and sought to prevent the import ban.

Peter van Oordt of the IPC, which has assisted Israeli companies for over 45 years, expressed disappointment with the judge's decision. He stated that the planned ban would have far-reaching and disproportionate consequences for the organization, Israel, the Jewish community, and local Palestinian workers who depend on these companies for their livelihoods. Van Oordt added that the IPC would thoroughly study the verdict but continue its work within legal boundaries.

The Dutch court's decision aligns with similar international actions. Last week, the UK announced a ban on products originating from settlements and measures against those involved in their expansion. Furthermore, 11 countries, including France and Canada, issued a joint statement regarding potential trade restrictions due to advancements in tenders in the E1 area and increased violence against Palestinians.
