Issawi Frej Vows to Pursue FA Chair Election Amidst Allegations

Issawi Frej, a candidate for chairman of the Football Association, stated his determination to hold democratic elections, asserting he has secured sufficient votes to challenge the incumbent, Shino Zuarz. Frej criticized the current association leadership, alleging that the sport is plagued by violence, racism, and corruption, and that the focus has shifted from professional management to preventing elections.

Frej claimed to have the backing of more than the 17 votes required and accused the association's leadership and affiliated centers of engaging in "cheap politicking" and "job distribution" to maintain their positions. He specifically targeted the Hapoel and Maccabi centers, stating their alleged unification in support of Zuarz was an illegal attempt to circumvent the clubs' authority, as the clubs are the ultimate decision-makers and the source of the centers' funding.

He further alleged that clubs, particularly those in lower leagues, are being intimidated by these centers, which receive millions in funding based on the clubs' affiliation. Frej promised to address issues of racism and violence, and to rebuild youth programs, emphasizing the importance of fostering a generation that can unite. He also pointed to Maccabi Tel Aviv as the dominant force controlling Israeli sports.

Frej urged clubs not to be intimidated and to exercise their right to vote, insisting that democratic elections are essential for the future direction of Israeli football. He also called for fairness from the association's leadership regarding the submission and approval of his candidacy forms, accusing them of playing games to aid the opposing side.
