Elite Israeli Navy Unit Deploys in West Bank Amid Escalating Tensions

Israel's security forces are intensifying operations in the West Bank, with the elite naval commando unit Shayetet 13 now active in the Judea Brigade's area of responsibility. The unit is conducting operations against "high-value targets" and in areas experiencing significant clashes. This deployment comes amid growing concern within the Israeli security establishment over potential escalation and ongoing violence between settlers and Palestinians, according to Walla.

A security source indicated that other special units are slated to join counter-terrorism efforts in the West Bank, describing the current period as "very sensitive with great potential for escalation." The IDF had previously warned that persistent clashes could lead to a significant deterioration of the situation. Following assessments of rising incitement, an increase in nationalistically motivated crimes, and violence from both sides, the situation has been deemed "explosive" and capable of escalating at any moment.

In response to these threats, the military has decided to bolster its presence around Israeli settlements and on major roadways. The Central Command has deployed an additional 26 battalions to expand its territorial presence and enhance readiness for sudden incidents. Concurrently, night operations by special forces are ongoing in the southern Hebron Hills, with published footage showing Shayetet 13 commandos rappelling from a helicopter onto a building rooftop to commence an operation.
