Women's Basketball League Launches 2026-27 Season
The 2026-27 Israeli women's basketball season officially commenced with a special opening event hosted by the Premier League Management at Ono Academic College. The event, which took place on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, featured all league teams present in full rosters.
The proceedings began with a seminar for referees on updated rules, followed by a forum involving Amos Frishman, Chairman of the Basketball Association, and Dana Sender, Chairwoman of the Women's Premier League Management. Remarks were also delivered by Professor Avi Moyal, Head of Sports Specialization at Ono Academic College, Nurit Sharvit, Director of the Women's Sports Department at the Ministry of Sport, and Ofri Yakir, Director of Athena.
Dana Sender then presented the new game schedule for the 2026-27 season, and a special panel discussion was held. The league's pre-season tournament, the Athena Winner Tournament, is set to begin the following day, September 17, with qualifying matches including Hapoel Lev Jerusalem versus Maccabi Bnot Karmiel, and Maccabi Haifa against Bnei Yehuda.
The regular season is scheduled to tip off on Monday, September 28, with a full slate of games.
