Women's Basketball League Launches 2026-27 Season
The Israeli Women's National Basketball League officially kicked off its 2026-27 season with a special opening event held at Ono Academic College. The event, organized by the league management, featured the participation of all league teams.
The day began with a seminar for referees on updated rules, followed by a forum with Amos Frishman, Chairman of the Basketball Association, and Dana Sender, Chairwoman of the Women's National League. Speeches were also delivered by Professor Avi Moyal, Head of Sports Specialization at Ono Academic College, Nurit Sharvit, Director of the Women's Sports Department at the Ministry of Culture and Sport, and Ofri Yakir, Athena Director.
Dana Sender presented the new game schedule for the upcoming season, and a special panel discussion took place. The pre-season tournament, the Athena Winner Tournament, is set to begin the following day, September 17, 2026, with qualifying matches including Hapoel Lev Jerusalem vs. Maccabi Bnot Karmiel and Maccabi Haifa vs. Bnei Yehuda.
The regular league season is scheduled to commence on Monday, September 28, 2026, with a full round of games.
