Israeli TV Star Dan Turgeman Sentenced to 10 Months in Prison for Tax Evasion
Israeli television actor Dan Turgeman has been sentenced to 10 months in prison after the Tel Aviv District Court accepted a prosecution appeal and increased his sentence from 9 months of community service. The legal drama stems from a 2018 police investigation into Turgeman's bank accounts, which revealed he had failed to report over 3 million shekels in income between 2008 and 2017. A search of his home uncovered numerous contracts identifying him as a "construction entrepreneur" in the settlement of Beit Aryeh, along with an additional 576,000 shekels from rental income that also went unreported.
Turgeman is expected to begin serving his sentence on March 1, 2027, at either Hermon or Tzalmon prison. While the prison term represents a significant setback, Turgeman received some relief as the court reduced his fine from 200,000 shekels to 60,000 shekels, meaning the state will refund him 140,000 shekels.
