Actor Dan Turgeman Sentenced to 10 Months in Prison for Tax Evasion

Israeli actor Dan Turgeman will begin serving a 10-month prison sentence on March 1, 2027, for tax evasion charges totaling over 3 million shekels. The sentence was handed down by the Tel Aviv District Court following an appeal by the prosecution against a lighter sentence of nine months of community service initially imposed by a lower court. Prosecutors argued for a stricter penalty, emphasizing the need for imprisonment in cases of white-collar crime of this magnitude.

Turgeman is expected to report to either the Hermon or Tzalmon detention facility to serve his sentence, approximately five and a half months from now. The case dates back to 2018 when Turgeman was arrested after an investigation into his bank accounts revealed that between 2008 and 2017, he received over 3 million shekels that were not declared in his personal or company tax reports. Further investigation uncovered undeclared rental income of 576,000 shekels between 2014 and 2017, along with contracts found at his home indicating his involvement as a construction entrepreneur in the community of Beit Aryeh.

While the prison sentence was increased, the financial penalty was reduced. The court lowered Turgeman's fine from 200,000 shekels to 60,000 shekels, resulting in the state returning 140,000 shekels to him.
