Actor Dan Turgeman's Son Breaks Silence on Father's Prison Sentence

Alad Turgeman, son of Israeli actor Dan Turgeman, has spoken out following the appellate court's decision to increase his father's prison sentence to 10 months.

"This is a period we will get through, and everything will be okay," Alad stated, adding, "This is about something that happened almost 20 years ago. I'm glad the matter has reached a conclusion after so much time." He also expressed pride in his father, saying, "Anyone who knows my father knows what an amazing person he is, and I am proud to be his son. I love him very much."

The Tel Aviv District Court accepted the prosecution's appeal against the leniency of Dan Turgeman's initial sentence. Turgeman, known for his role in "Touching the Sky," was convicted of tax offenses and his sentence was increased from 9 months of community service to 10 months of actual imprisonment. The court also reduced his fine from NIS 100,000 to NIS 50,000.

In 2025, Turgeman pleaded guilty as part of a plea deal to various tax offenses committed between 2008 and 2017. These included failing to report income from real estate ventures and property rentals, as well as not paying capital gains tax on the sale of a property that was substantially owned by him but registered under another person's name.

The district court panel, consisting of Vice President Judge Shai Yaniv, Judge Yossi Tofel, and Judge Dana Amir, emphasized the binding precedent that intentional tax evasion offenses warrant actual imprisonment, regardless of the time elapsed. They noted that the appellate court was not exhausting the legal proceedings.
