Man Arrested in Sakhnin After Shooting at Home and Car
Police in northern Israel announced they have filed charges against a 23-year-old man from Sakhnin for allegedly firing shots at a home and a vehicle. The incident occurred on August 28, 2026, around 2 a.m. when gunshots were heard in a Sakhnin neighborhood. Police forces responded and spotted the suspect attempting to flee the scene on an electric bicycle.
According to police reports, the suspect discarded a loaded handgun as he tried to escape on foot, scaling a gate before being apprehended within minutes. Officers recovered the firearm, which was loaded with a round in the chamber.
The Haifa District Prosecutor's Office has submitted an indictment against the suspect to the Haifa Central Court, along with a request to detain him until the legal proceedings are concluded.
Police also noted that over 610 weapons have been seized in the northern region since the beginning of the year, and armed cells have been thwarted.
