Jerusalem Captain Yarden Shua Frustrated by Bench Role

Despite a convincing win by Beitar Jerusalem over Maccabi Petah Tikva, tensions are simmering within the club, primarily concerning captain Yarden Shua. Shua, a key player, has found himself on the bench for recent matches, a situation he is reportedly unhappy with. Coach Almog Cohen explained that Shua was overexerted when not fully fit and is being eased back into peak condition gradually. Shua played only in stoppage time against Bnei Sakhnin and came on about half an hour before the end of the Tuesday match, contributing an assist.

Following the game, Shua shared a supporter's Instagram story that featured a photo of him with teammates and the caption "Enough with the ego games, Yarden Shua needs to start." Although Shua deleted the post minutes later, the club understands his dissatisfaction. Coach Cohen, who does not use social media, was made aware of the post. The team management reiterated that Shua will return to the starting lineup once he regains his form from the previous year.

Looking ahead to the next match against Hapoel Haifa, Cohen is unlikely to change the starting eleven, especially the offensive players. If any changes are made, it is more probable that Jhonatan Kristo will replace Eugene Ansah rather than Shua returning to the starting lineup.
