Jerusalem Captain Yarden Shua Frustrated by Bench Role

Ongoing story · 2 updates
Translated & summarized from Mako by baba
The story · English

Despite a convincing win by his team, Beitar Jerusalem, captain Yarden Shua is reportedly unhappy with his current role on the bench. Shua, a key player for the club, has been starting games in less familiar positions or coming on as a substitute. Coach Almog Cohen explained that Shua was overexerted when not fully fit and his return to peak form will be gradual. Shua was substituted into the recent match against Maccabi Petah Tikva about half an hour before the end, and managed to assist the final goal.

Following the game, Shua shared a post on social media from a follower that included a screenshot of him hugging teammates with the caption, "Enough with the ego games, Yarden Shua needs to start." Although Shua later deleted the post, the club understands his dissatisfaction. Coach Cohen, who does not use social media, was made aware of the post. The team management reiterated that Shua will return to the starting lineup once he regains his form from the previous year.

Looking ahead to the next match against Hapoel Haifa, it is unlikely that Cohen will change the starting eleven, especially the forward line. If any changes are made, it is more probable that Jovanco Kalou will replace Eugene Ansah in the starting lineup.
